Correct. I don’t know about now, but the movie October Sky rang true about eastern Kentucky and the coal mine culture even though that true story took place in West Virginia. If you didn’t play football and left town on a scholarship, there wasn’t much other opportunity. My father went to welding school in Paintsville and that’s what led to his job in Columbus.

Ricky Skaggs should have been in a long time ago.
He is certainly worthy.

I remember Ricky when his hair was dark.

Never dark. Blonde and maybe a shade of brown, but not dark. His dad's hair was jet black. Our grandmother was blonde even in her old age, so that's where we likely got that.
I did find this album cover, but I'm pretty sure that is not his natural color. Other photos from that time period have the light brown I remember.
Here's another from about the same time period.

Interestingly, with quite a bit of blonde hair in our family, we ironically, and in stark contrast to Mrs. Warren, have at least two DOCUMENTED lines of Cherokee women in our family. The latest is Matilda Lester Skaggs, the wife of our great-great-grandfather Francais Skaggs and mother of our great-grandfather Cornelius Skaggs. Here is her picture. I have in my hand the family heirloom photo and original that this image was likely copied from. My father gave it to me shortly before he passed away last year.

Just as I tell folks that speak like Dems that they speak like Dems....
eff that, they have lost any credibility whatsoever until Hank Jr. is inducted
seems like throwing a hissy that takes away from the point of the article....worthless drivel with no value added.

No, it’s pointing out the worthlessness of the award.

Can't disagree that most awards are useless these days...
I apologize for going off on you.
