Barbara Eden’s only child died when he was in his 30s in 2001, and it was very hard for her. That might be the sadness you noticed.

She’s been married twice, but no kids. Another little-known factoid: during the run of “Gilligan’s Island,” Ms. Wells became very close to Natalie Schafer, who played Mrs. Howell. Ms. Schafer was never a big star, but she was a very savvy investor and accumulated a tidy fortune.
When Schaefer’s health began to decline at the end of her life, Dawn Wells became her primary care-giver. Upon her passing in 1991, Schafer left $1.5 million to the Actor’s Fund Retirement Home in New Jersey, which named a new wing in her honor. The rest of her estate reportedly went to Dawn Wells, who has refused to comment about the money. If Wells did inherit a sizable amount from her former co-star, that money is apparently long-gone.
