You’re right - but the real danger comes from rising water... not that going without power for days on end isn’t totally unpleasant or anything...but it’s safer. I live in Florida and my backyard ends at a small saltwater stream... I hate hurricane season.
I’ll be on Ocracoke next week. I hope it stays south.
Ever read the book ?
I know what you mean. Living near saltwater means having to worry about storm surge — a potential killer. Moreover, hurricanes are not just extremely powerful, but they also have an irreducible element of unpredictability, changeable in strength and capable of spewing damaging microbursts and tornadoes that can topple even the most solid of trees and devastate well-made structures.
All true. September, October and November are the worst... so we’re going into the ‘strong storm’ phase...
Dam you President Trump!!!

The weather folks about a week ago said it was headed North away from the United States. They were wrong, and it appears the East Coast will need to be ready to make SERIOUS preparations for this storm.
It is supposed to re-intensify tomorrow as a MAJOR HURRICANE.

Despite the first 30 seconds or so, Dave is a serious meteorologist.
GFS still showing Florence going out to sea, Euro & other non-GFS based models showing it much closer, if not hitting the coast. Good explanations of the Bermuda High that is keeping Florence from going out to sea & the trough over the US that may or may not weaken the high.
It’s back to landing at Myrtle.
Wife and I had planned on spending next week at North Myrtle. Changed our plans last week. Looks like that was a close one.
The landing spot changes daily. The whole East Coast is on alert.
Looks like Raleigh is in the path of Florence.
Soon will be time to get some supplies in.
Don’t look forward to this at all. Will never forget FRAN (and Floyd).
