Good. Maybe I can finally fire up the generator I got five years ago.

“Maybe I can finally fire up the generator I got five years ago.”

Having living in Florida since 1969 and seeing what I’ve seen......I’d just as soon let mine sit.

My mom and her husband bought a winter home near Orlando a couple years ago. She was all freaking out last year when a hurricane was coming. (They were in Michigan at the time)

I reminded her that Orlando is where people evacuate to not from. That helped.

Time will tell but from what I have seen, they have been pretty accurate in the past. They do update and adjust accordingly as the week progresses.

It can intensify all it wants. It will still never be as powerful as THIS Florence...

Maybe you should be firing it up monthly/weekly as is. Especially if its a gas engine.

Actually you should be firing it up every three to four months and putting a load on it. I use a circular saw. Look up how a generator can lose its magnetic charge. You can remagnetize if you need to.

You're right - the Orlando area has some of the highest ground in Florida...

It has never been started. Never been gassed up either.

Yet it was in Orlando that I experienced two major hurricanes with extended power outages. It should be kept in mind that God created Florida so that hurricanes would have a nice place to visit. Every part of the state is vulnerable to hurricanes.

If the storm is powerful enough and it hits in the right place being inland in Fla. would not offer as much proection as some might think....however, don’t tell your mom that. ;)
