The ability to cloak an objects presence is advancing, such that hiding a vehicle and it's heat emission seem close to feasible. This processing technique may make a cloaked object detectable based not upon what the object emits, but by discerning what lighting should be present to match objects that are observed, and then contrasting prediction with actual observations.

It just dawned on me - This is the foundation of the “Zoom - Enhance” scene from Bladerunner that everyone said would NEVER be reality.

Saw the effect myself. There were a lot of really cool things during totality.

After totality we got a similar effect with a colander: lots of miniature eclipses.
