When I passed the TV in the lobby this morning, the text at the bottom of the CNN screen had “hush money” in it. This article clarifies that that is irrelevant, except for in the court of public opinion, where nobody that matters takes CNN seriously any more.

My guess is he was threatened with more serious charges or longer jail time, so that’s why he agreed to the political deal.

Remember that Lanny Davis is not the criminal defense counsel here. He is a mouthpiece, a PR hack, a public face. He did not negotiate the plea but rather is spinning it.

Trump has got to know that even if he lasts out a second term, these vultures will pursue him to destroy him personally and commercially long past his public service. The vultures are both the rabid dems and the GOPe who are enraged he took the dinner plate away from their banquet.
