Why not just have straps hanging from the ceiling. People can stand up while they fly getting even more warm bodies onto the plane. /s
“Pusher” —Sgt York
The 757 is already one of the most unpleasant planes on which to ride. Adding 3 and half rows to a packed plane won’t improve anything.
There’s probably a job opportunity for a couple of hundred small gymnasts here - meeting the time limits for the emergency exit drills.
I don’t even consider flying anymore.
Is that the seat - looks like the most uncomfortable one I’ve seen. Head bent down so you are forced to bow in submission to the flight crew? Seat slants down in front so you have to brace your feet to keep from sliding forward.
I know Freepers are opposed to regulation on philosophical grounds, but I’d support new regs to require all airline execs to use these as their office chairs (but that would probably be an OSHA violation) and to require all airline execs to ride middle seat coach when they fly.
I’m a big guy with claustrophobia. Last MRI I planned ahead and had several distracting mental exercises ready, including *ahem* some intimate fantasies with my wife. It seemed to take forever, but finally they slid me out of that damn tube. I was so proud of myself for not losing it.
Then, “sorry Mr. R, but the tech took details of the wrong side of your heart. We have to do it again”.
I made them sedate me.
I much prefer the Navy P-3’s seats despite the P-3’s slow speed (330K).
You want to eliminate overhead compartments?
There’s a reason people don’t want to check their bags: dishonest baggage handlers.
Require all US politicians to fly middle seat coach, then you'll see a change.
Midwest Express used to have All first class seating for not too much more than the advanced coach fair from United/Delta/American/etc. They got bought out by another airline, and back to flying Cattle Car Air.
Their ALL first class seating was also comfortable leather seats served with hot meals and warmed chocolate chip cookies. Bought out by Frontier. Flew on Midwest when it was one of the choices that had the government contract.
I have been flying southwest over the last few years as opposed to american (which I have 2 million miles) but have lost all my perks. I really used to enjoy sitting in first class enjoying a drink while sneering at the peasants as they shambled to the back of the plane. Though in reality, first class had far devolved past what coach was in the 60s and 70s. Wish I flew back then, even if just for the flight attendents of the day
Gonna make it harder for the po-po to drag passengers off of United flights.
“SIR! Please roll over on your side NOW! We need to drag your butt down the aisle, and there’s just not enough room to drag you face down!”
Of course, if the cops are dedicated donut eaters...they might not be able to get down the aisle themselves. So, the perp is safe.
Sounds like Mexicana Airlines back in the 1980s.
I started flying business or first class on all my international flights a few years ago by using airline points. No going back to flying cattle car class for me. Ill always fly in the pointy end of the plane!
