Is this Amite County, Louisiana? The late, great Jerry Clower was from “Route 4, Amite County, Liberty, Mississippi.”
For some reason I don’t think he was related to this bunch of trailer trash.
We have Parishes in Louisiana.
Amite is a small town of about 4,000 off I-55,
some 20 miles North of I-12 and Hammond, La.
There is about 30 miles or so straight line distance
between the two. Maybe 50 miles or less via highways.
Liberty, Amite County, Mississippi to Amite, Tangipahoa Parish,Louisiana
My first thought when reading the headline (after being appalled) was “What are the Amites? Are they some kind of weird religious around - a cross between Amish and Mennonites?”
A further read into the article cleared that up for me.
Well, I had to look up what kind of cult the Amites are. Evidently, Amite is the name of a town in Louisiana.

Probably a mix between Cajun and Red Necks......
Absolutely not
Louisiana doesn't have counties.
Amite is in Tangipahoa Parish. It's about half way between Kentwood (also mentioned in the story) and Hammond.
all you have to do is x it out and it goes away, no need to disable anything.
