One of the scariest movies I ever saw was the Branagh one about the Wannsee conference. Creeped me out how so much evil was brewed amidst such gentility.
Makes me wonder about today - how much evil is concocted in comfy boardrooms.

WTF are you talking about? “Stalins kids’’? His daughter Svetlana went back to the USSR. She didn't like it here. His son Yakov died as a German prisoner of war.

Yes I saw it too & you get a surreal sense watching it.
Good film!
Another that will do that is “The Chekist” - Russian film, you can find it with English subtitles on YouTube.

Yeah thats pretty much what I remember. Did you ever see the movie on the Wannsee Conference stars Kenneth Branagh as Heydrich? The original German movie was much better.

After the Jews the biggest group of victims was Soviet prisoners of war. They truly are the forgotten ones. Even sadder was that the most Soviet prisoners of war who survived the Nazis, were killed by Stalin after the war.

Plenty of Slavic types, considered untermenchen, as well. Hitler really screwed up on that one. He could have had most of the ethnic Ukrainians on his side, if hed played it right politically. They knew about the Holodomor, hated Stalin and the Russians. It could have made a material difference on the Eastern Front if Hitler had treated them like liberated allies.
Ukrainians were used as guards at the death camps, probably the most famous of which, was John Demjanjuk.

Send to the gulags, which often ended up being the same thing.
Al Stewarts song Roads to Moscow tells that sort of a story in song.

No, I never saw the Branagh movie.
I’ll have to look it up and try to see it.
Most of the evil in history has been devised and blueprinted in boardrooms and conference centers.
The old picture of the evil cabal in their underground lair is pure Hollywood.
Nothing flourishes without the industrialists and bankers.
The rough draft may be put forth in a beer hall but the plan is finalised in the boardroom.
“When blood runs in the streets, follow the money.”
George Soros learned well from his SS mentors.

Sorry then. I should not make such a blanket remark really. A Momentary Lapse of Reason on my part.
