Robbery gone bad. I imagine a stolen boat would disappear quickly in Mexico. Lots of US stolen cars vanish south of the border.

I'm not familiar with this area but I do know that there are some areas full of US retires that are, or were, relatively safe.

ANY, and I mean ANY American that retires to Mexico are INSANE!! You can retire just as cheaply is places in FLORIDA and TEXAS where it is considerably SAFER with better Medical and Police!!
