You're right, but it's actually a line from The Graduate.
When Elaine Robinson's father (Mrs. Robinson's husband) learns that Benjamin Braddock has been sleeping with his daughter (played by Katherine Ross), he (understandably) blows a gasket, really loses it.
Benjamin (Dustin Hoffman) tries to explain to him that sex is seen as no big thing by people in his generation, and he says "to us, it's like shaking hands," which of course causes Mr. Robinson to go even more nonlinear.
At the end of his diatribe, he yells at Benjamin "well, you'll forgive me if I don't shake your hand!" and storms out of the room.
I remember him better from an MST3K movie that was a lame spy movie.
The problem is that if she got $150K per episode, they had to contractually pay John Ritter more (he was to be the highest paid), and Joyce DeWitt would also receive a huge bump.
The show could literally not afford that.
DeWitt and Ritter ended up really hating her for ruining a good thing that she had going.
They both feared it would destroy the show.
I think she patched things up with Ritter before he died, and only in later years did she patch up things with DeWitt.
But Somers ended up doing very well financially with her exercise equipment.
NOT from future acting, that's for sure.
Doubtless this conclusion is backed by stacks of research papers.
Close but no. My dad has passed. I wish my dad had done as well physically.
