I don't get how anorexia is treated, medically. So, does it take a doctor sitting in front of "patients" saying, "eat, eat, you're skin and bones!"?

is insured by Georgia Medicaid, a modest medical assistance program co-funded by the state and federal governmentIt is actually entirely "funded" by the taxpayers of Georgia and the United States of America.
The question for everyone here is, "do you believe the people who are paying the bills should have a say (through their elected representatives) over what they will and won't pay for?"

So none of these medical centers think her life is worth spending their own money on, but they’ll gladly ask for yours.
The obvious problem here is that the anorexia is a cry for attention. So she’s never going to voluntarily give it up UNLESS it no longer works as an attention-grabbing measure.
By lavishing her with attention, they are ensuring her problem will never be cured. This is massive positive reinforcement to a mental problem - big time malpractice if you ask me.

I have personal experience with someone I knew with this terrible mental disorder. It should be treated with insurance in the same manner as all sorts of other mental disorders including bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. This is very sad and disturbing.

It is just like a long time smoker or an alcoholic.
They know it is killing them, but they just can’t stop the bad habits.
Somebody explained to me this way, if you wiped your butt with the same hand your entire life and then all of sudden you have to use the opposite hand to survive.
How difficult would it be? And you probably wouldn’t be any good at it. And how easy it would be to just use the hand you’ve always used.
That is how hard it is.

She doesn’t need treatment. She needs a slice of pizza. I don’t need my insurance rates going up because she wants to starve herself to death.
Someone on a hunger strike is not a medical issue.

A former friend of mine (former because she's become a militant lesbian leftist) was anorexic in junior high/high school. Fought it, gained weight, lost the weight again, and last I saw her (20 years ago), was normal weight again.
About 15 years ago, she made headlines in my home state trying to get gay marriage passed.
I really, truly think that something happened to her in her childhood that set her down the anorexic and lesbian path. I have no clue if it was a family member or a supposed friend, who may have molested her, but it sure seems that way, given how she's turned out.

It’s only healthcare if it results in death. That’s the progressive way.

I’ve been watching the show “My 600-lb Life,” and eating disorders, no matter which side of the spectrum, have definite mental and emotional components to it.
I’ve also noticed that both sides of the spectrum have enablers, who deny that nothing is wrong and continue to feed the habit. Someone can sit there on camera, unable to move on their own, crying that they’re going to “die any day now” if they don’t change - followed by a 3000 calorie meal provided by their enabler(s).
