NY and NE would roll over and present itself for mercy. The real ‘Americans ‘ living in NY and NE would fight against the liberal state. ( there are enough of us to make a difference and we are the armed ones)

Entertaining, but biased. Labeled Georgia and other Souterners as fanatics.

Illinois remained calm???

Southern and middle Illinois has little use for the Chicago metro area.

Californians would have to put so much effort into controlling the looting that would erupt within the state that they wouldn’t be able to organize any effective offensive force and probably not even any effective defensive force.

Wyoming, Montana and North Dakota.

That is where the nukes are.

Yup, we would have to wipe out Chicago first.

Story not realistic as it does not confront issues of drug cartel roles or big gang activity, nor reactions of feral populations in the inner cities.

Meanwhile, where does all the food come from and how does it get there for the grocery stores which operate on JIT principles?

What role does starvation play:? What happens to the millions which need constant medical treatment? Where and how are all the bodies buried.

Who is manufacturing all the munitions?

Using nuclear weapons in the situation presented is just plain counter-productive.

What about all the anti-gun people, especially in California? With some many against guns, where do its troops come from?

And so on ...

Was in Lincoln, once, for a week. I have no idea what they would do.

The liberals here in NY are sissies. They can bravely sue you. That’s their power. Point a gun at them and they’ll fold like a cheap camera.

The only fighters would be the a-political real men who would defend the state. Think 911 cops and firemen. Many being democrats who are taken care of economically by their unions. They vote for Trump, though.

This was a silly read. It would not be region against region. It would be city against rural. The war, as most do, would break down into who gives up the soonest in the face of starvation, lack of water and electricity, lack of medical supplies.

Oil products (diesel and gasoline especially) would not be available and movement of goods would grind to a halt. Factories would shut down without inputs and outputs. Widespread electrical outages everywhere. It would be disease and famine claiming most, not warfare.

A whole lot of bunk.

The next civil war won't look anything like the last one with two sides having geographic boundaries, distinct uniforms, and a clearly defined chain of command.

It'll be like Syria, factional warfare. Smaller, loose-knit and fluid organizations, many with little military training or discipline, poor structure and leadership.

These organizations will have different goals and objectives that shift over time and situation and even those who share the same ideology will have squabbles over egos and leadership. Groups with opposing views will align with each other to vanquish other groups and then find themselves fighting each other once again.

Then add to the mix a multitude of armed bands of marauders and various criminals who are just out to rob and rape.

It's gonna be fun!

It has to be Alaska or Hawaii. Too cold and too far away to attack.

Which Texas? Houston and San Antonio? Dallas? Austin?

I’d put my money on Southerners, like Kentucky, West Virginia or Tennessee. A hilly terrain is hard to take. Lots of natural spring water, people already heat their homes with wood and most are experienced hunters. And they’re well armed. If I’m not mistaken, Southern states produced a higher number of serviceman - folks who already know how to fight.

“Quora user Jon Davis, a Marine veteran who is now a writer and blogger on military, veterans, and Middle Eastern affairs. In Oct. 2014, Davis’ answer was optioned by a Hollywood producer for a potential television series.”

I belonged to Quora and had a helluva time leaving it. I hate that site, I hate those people. I got the stupidest questions in the world there. And I had to sign up to pose a networking question almost a decade ago. Nothing good comes from Quora.

“For all intents and purposes Alaska and Hawaii ended well enough since they were so far removed “

Hawaii can’t support it’s population with it’s homeland resources. It wasn’t ever meant to house that many people.

“First came a period of massive migration back to the homelands. ........
A Texas Marine stationed in California, would not fight for California. A soldier in New York would not fight against their home in Virginia and a sailor in Houston would not fight against their home state of Florida. The warriors returned to their home states and the states had to reconsider that when they measured troop strength of their new nations. Ultimately, they measured troop strength by how much of the population would return home.”

My grandfather came to America from Germany and enlisted. As soon as he got to bootcamp we went to war with his homeland. He went through training, became a pilot and bombed his hometown. If you’re from any of those places and you have left them... You’ll fight them without much of a problem. Believe me, I would command a column of tanks into Connecticut without a civil war.

Conquering Colorado ? Most everyone in Colorado is from Texas and Mexico.. And california. But those losers won’t be part of the fighting. And NY wouldn’t need to “conquer” New England because they have the Hudson river. Shut down 3 bridges across the Hudson and everyone in NE will be lined up at the backs of red-cross trucks within 24 hours. The Hudson shuts off New England from the rest of the country without challenge.

I think this guy’s evaluation is seriously flawed in every analysis. But then again, I’m not the one with ... a tv series proposed based my answer ? Wow. Good job, Marine !

California would probably hire an army of Mexican mercenaries.

Hell. Chicago would just wipe itself out. Just wall it off and let the Hood Rats do what comes naturally.
