The Symposium by Plato, featuring Socrates and others, was a wonderful read. The Republic, I must admit, bored me to tears. Math and physics used texts, but biology was still original sources. So we read Mendel, not about Mendel. THAT was fun. Their attempt to make us kill fruit flies, not fun.
