I’m a fan of The Dude but I had never heard that before. Thanks.
It happens doesn’t it? If you’re ready for it and don’t try to fight it it can be a blast. But the mountains take no prisoners if you act foolishly. I guess that’s true of the weather anywhere but help is not nearby in the mountains.
The Uncompaghre is one of the few areas in CO I have never investigated. I’ve wanted to for decades now. From what I see on the maps it looks great.
George certainly pulled his weight as the other main character to Clint’s lead role.
I suspect many have shared that knowledge while traveling among the high peaks. Personally, I always considered I’d feel like a Bonehead as I died slowly of exposure or quickly from a fall. It’s never a good idea to be up there without companionship in case of disaster, which can happen in the blink of an eye. Words to the wise.
Im old now with a bum heart
I drive up high on mining roads and shelf roads
The San Juans are as good as it gets though all of colorado has great off roads
You can litersllly drive to over 13,000 easy....not counting of course Pikes Peak but thats not off roading
Engineer, imogene, cinnamon, black near pass, yankee basin
Tons of good runs
Mosquito near Leadville is an easy one that goes high
If I woke my kids now and said lets drive to Santa Fe and Colorado for high altitude off roading theyd be ready in 10 minutes ..no fooling....my wife would say you can drop me at Neimans north park in Dallas and pick me up on the return trip
