That's what I was thinking, too. Full and joyous congratulations to the royal Kate, but I was thinking of the other Kate, too: the heart-broken 20-year-old mother of Alfie Evans.

Little Alfie's family has been put through so much unnecessary grief and humiliation at the hands of the British health bureaucrats. The latest is that the officials at Alder Hey Hospital (Liverpool) said that, basically, the angry, tender, tough young dad, Tom, he wouldn't even be able to hold his little boy unless he had "a sea-change in attitude," bowed his head to his social betters and told his supporters to stand down. Can you imagine them saying that to Prince Charles? Can you imagine them even thinking it?

Precisely.

He was always a family favorite.

My heart is very sore for that family & that child. He was not cared for appropriately by the hospital. He obviously did not need the ventilator, he should have had a gastric tube placed and he was carried for a year without a diagnosis. The specialist from Germany & Italy were appalled ad made no secret of their opinions.

There is no excuse for the monstrous indifference to standards of care exhibited buy the NHS in this case and in the 6 month waiting times and denials of service to UK citizens in general. The abrogation of responsibility by the UK Government by overwhelming the system with migrants when the citizens were already being rationed.

Unfortunately, the Queen has no power to intervene.

She has no “constitutional” or statutory power, but she has unmatched public relations/social pressure power.
