I just set up an old P.O.S. ASUS EeePC mini notebook, going from WinXP to Mint. It has transformed into a little hot-rod! Love it!

you’ll also note that mint runs a heck of a lot quieter as well- with my windows 7, fans were always ramping up- but with linux, rarely does it happen

It requires less than a quarter of what Windows requires.

Well, I’m happy that you’re happy with an obsolete system.

obsolete is in the mind of the user. If it does what you want it is not obsolete. Cutting edge tech usually suck any way ... and keep your smart phone.

If it does what you want it is not obsolete.

Not necessarily. It's obsolete even if it does exactly what you want and how you want--if it's vulnerable to security flaws.

Truth is, none of that matters, as I do not have the thousands of dollars necessary to buy new software new pc etc. Just us poor folk getting by here with what we have which works.

And that’s fine. But it doesn’t excuse the snark about something which you know nothing about.

All PIF was doing was answering your questions.

So you work with Linux, and it’s great.

Why get pissed off?

I'm not pissed. He made a comment on a topic which he knows nothing about. I was trying to correct him.

If I was out of line--to either of you--I apologize. That was not my intent.

No, I probably mistook your tone for something it wasn’t.

Frankly, I wish I knew Linux. Makes me puke to think of being forced into Windows again just down the road.
