I have my Garand from CMP, but want to get a 1911 and a carbine someday.
Unfortunately, my club seems to have let its CMP affiliation lapse, so I have to find some other way to get eligible.

I’ll take the carbine please, The Garand is a great rifle but I have experienced one too many cases of M1 Thumb.
I never figured out why Garand didn’t just have the clip drop from the bottom like the old Mannlichers.

Probably because the stripper clip was simpler & more familiar to soldiers when the M1 was being designed. Just a guess...
