Oh yes, I loved the whole Indians thing; it's a fascinating topic!
"THE LEATHER STOCKING TALES" and "THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS"...great stuff and books my grandma read to me before I ever even went to school. :-)

As a matter of fact, I so loved those stories as a small child, that I now own a lovely leather bound early edition of the series.
I'm also a big fan of Hawthorne, Washington Irving and quite a few other early American authors. Poe, of course, is a bit later, but my absolute favorite early American author.
