I remember being in a town on business about 10 years ago the same weekend they were having a regional motorcycle rally. The average age of the guys on Harleys looked to be north of 65. That would put that crowd in their 70s now.
A few weeks back I went to an estate sale of a unique guy here in Reno. He had some of about everything including two Harley’s. One a shovel head and one pan head. The heirs had told the auctioneer that they wanted over $5k each for these basket cases. No sale. I gave an opening bid of $500 for the pan head and it ran to $800 and stalled. No sale on either bike. Yea the market is saturated.
It’s said he makes 15,000 a month and Bill’s are over 12,500. If so he doesn’t make 15,000. That is simple the gross. He’s only making about 2500.00 or less a month.
There ya go, they ran out of accountants and lawyers to buy their $25,000+ bikes...
My first Harley cost me 1200 bucks. What a farce.
As I understand it, a lot of these reality show production crews urge the cast to drum up the drama. I guess because they think it will make for a more interesting show. I personally don’t need the drama, just watching how the bikes were made was entertaining enough for me. Also, I understand that is what put the Robertsons (Duck Dynasty) at odds with the a&e channel. They refused to create fake arguments etc. because that is not who they are.
Yeah, and the grand plan is try and lure millennials back by producing an electric bike. Probably have a standard iphone charger on the tank...
“My first Harley cost me 1200 bucks”
If you bought it new that’s been a while. lol
They ride Vespa scooters.
If they didn’t constantly argue and yell at each other every few minutes for the soap opera affect, few would ever watch.
It’s all choreographed and rehearsed, and got really old.
My last HD purchase was the FXSTB (1340) in 2000.
OCC and “American Hot Rod” showed to all the world what its like to work for crazy, money grubbing bosses.
I suspect they made much more on TV rights than they ever made from car-motorcycle sales.
With all due respect my friend, sounds like they were asking a bit too much.....and what you wanted to pay was a biiiiiit light.
It was used, 1941 ULH, 80” side valve flathead, but way better than anything put out today. It was bullet proof. At 90 MPH it was just turning over.
Still got it I hope!
Long gone....
NNNOOOOO!!!!!
You can’t post at least an excerpt of this article?
Paul Sr. started out with a metal fabricating business 40 yrs ago near Newburg, N.Y. He began customising old Harleys as a side business. He’s among the best of the best when it comes to metalworkong but also has a reputation for being hot headed. So him, and Paul Jr were perfect for a so called reality show. It’s like they got too big too fast.
i agree- and if i’m not mistaken, The Waling Dead is a now a soap opera set in zombieland
“The choreographed rehearsed never ending squabbles”
You and I wanted to see work on motorcycles. We got a male version of the Kardashians.
