A few years back there was a county-wide training in a mall after hours, joint police and EMS, police clearing an area, EMS following a police escort, triage, stop bleeding, load and go.
Mass casualty EMS care is different from single patient care. If a patient doesn’t have a pulse or isn’t breathing, you’re not going to work on him.
We don’t know yet how many of the victims bled to death, and how many had vital organs destroyed and would have died even if they could be whisked instantly to trauma surgery.
