Yes. The M1 Garand entered service with the US military in 1942. The M1 carbine a year later and it was used in Korea. The Japanese, the Germans , the North Koreans and Chinese came to respected it and fear its firepower.
The Second Amendment goes hand in hand with this statement from the Declaration of Independence,
“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”
Now, how is anyone going to throw off a government without being adequately armed?
