That was kind of the problem with this opening ceremony... You couldn't tell what was real, and what was special effects (CGI). Katie Couric earlier said "Just to let our audience know, we aren't seeing these special effects actually in the stadium... they are special effects made for the TV audience."
I didn't like the way they used so much video and special effects. In past Olympic opening ceremonies, most of the action always was done in the stadium, on the 'stage' in real time.
The best parts of this ceremony for me were: The animals, opera singer and Yuna Kim skating then lighting the Olympic torch. And the fireworks. The rest of it: Meh.
I hope the rest of the MSM wasn't paying attention, or next week they'll start calling the Steele dossier an augmented reality, too.

I loved those gloves. I’m glad that Ralph Lauren is still designing our Olympic gear. Our athletes looked great. Germany on the other hand. Blecchh. What was the designer thinking not even incorporating their flag colors into their gear. It must have been a diversity hire designer.

On hindsight what I stated isn’t the whole truth. On the whole they’re probably decent, talented, very hard working people. They’re young and under the influence of the media.
