Didn’t eat enough pickled ginger and maybe some kimche on the side, gauranteed to kill worms.

At the end of WWII our medics went ashore in Tokyo. One unusual ailment that they encountered was intestinal parasites, from eating raw fish.

...and started pulling at the worm. I've had that problem since I was 12.
And I never even ate sushi...
Fake news.

Long ago I had an instructor,a former WWII Navy Corpsman.
He enjoyed telling about carefully removing twenty-foot tapeworms from civilians after the war.
If any segment remains it will reproduce; careful not to break it.
That was usually an interesting class.

Beats me. I have friends who insist that raw fish sushi is a delicacy.
I remind them that sushi delicacies also include fugu, pufferfish, that occasionally kills their fans.

We oughta look for Youtubes of tapeworms just to freak out those who have never seen them.

I like sushi, and generally don't like fried food, but at this point I'm thinking no more seafood that isn't deep fried, or cooked cajun style.
To: DUMBGRUNT
I like the taste of sashimi, but not enough to risk intestinal parasites for it. There’s a reason our ancestors started cooking their food.
