Lets see if the North Easterners will react like Texas coast people did and selflessly help each other.

Anything less than 3 feet is a normal Winter storm. It's Wintertime so we're having Winter in New England.
I don't know why everybody if flipping out.

Nor’easters are every bit as capricious as hurricanes. It could veer out to sea with little effect other than heavy surf. It could veer inland pulling impressive snow totals much farther south. Or it could turn into one of those once-a-decade snow-bomb white hurricane deals by stalling out in just the right place to keep pumping moisture into the record cold. We’ve seen over two feet of snow from that before even in semi-tropical southeastern North Carolina coastal areas. Roofs collapse because they’re not built for that kind of load, they have to call out the National Guard because they have next to no snow removal equipment, don’t need it at all the vast majority of the time. I’ve always said I’ll gladly take two feet of snow over 2 inches of ice any time, though. A very heavy ice storm is a nightmare, you can’t even sleep if there are large trees anywhere near the house, hearing them popping and cracking all night, just waiting for one to crash through the roof.

‘Bombogenesis’ seems to be this season’s meteorological buzz word...remember ‘polar vortex’? With the current cold wave, I am surprised the media hasn’t been jamming that one down our collective throats.

Meteorologist on Channel 3 in Philly admits that 24 hours before the event she still isnt sure just how much impact the storm will have on the city by way of snowfall, duration, temperature changes and the rest - right after the newsreaders ahead of her clucked over a story about chocolate becoming extinct all over the world in thirty years because of global warming - what is wrong with these people!!....... I cannot figure out how blind some people can be.

Tell them the slower rotation is being caused by all the windmills
pushing against the wind and acting as a counter force to the Earth's rotation. hehehe

Well I remember Stella! It was awful here. It just missed NYC but us upstate were hammered instead. If it had hit NYC the way it hit us it would have been one for the ages.

Looks like this storm from 1993.
Superstorm of 1993, the Storm of the Century
https://www.weather.gov/ilm/Superstorm93
It had a different history of formation, but had an impact on more than half the population of the US.

Yeah, I know.
Nothing in weather is certain but if they didn’t warn people of the potential, people would die.
Or more accurately more people would die.
Hindsight is always 20/20.
And yes,I do believe that with the severe temperatures that we are expecting, people are going to die. Happens every time.
Some by accident, some by mishap, and some by sheer stupidity.

Yeah. If we had global warming, the forecast for Friday would be a high of 0 instead of -2.

I come from Alabama
With a banjo on my knee
I’m going to Louisiana,
My true love for to see.
It rained all night the day I left
The weather it was dry
The sun so hot, I froze to death
Susannah, don’t you cry.

LOL, I think you knew what I meant, which is that we can’t do anything to change a volcanic eruption, hurricane, or blizzard.
But we CAN prepare and brace ourselves for it.
