Every time Trump exercises in any way his powers as President, the MSM-Democrats try to turn it into “the political equivalent of Armageddon.”
You mean Clarence Thomas wasn’t enough?
And ... Republicans will have a larger Senate majority after 2018 election for confirming successor(s) Justices. It’s baked in.
And Ginsberg will live thru Trump’s seat at the helm. She will will herself to do it.
Article said nothng.
Kennedy “might” retire in June, at 81 ...
BUT
RBG turns 85 in March!!
So, I’m expecting TWO appointments in 2018!
A progressive SCOTUS has been the main force shaping US Society - undemocratically, for the last 60 years.
From Griswold to Roe to Obergefell, these were things which American States, and voters, had NOT widely embraced, and indeed, had rejected. Yet SCOTUS forced them on the USA in their own brand of corrupt and unconstitutional policy-making.
“Should President Trump get another conservative onto the bench, that will be a sea-shift in our nation. The Democrats know that, so I expect them to pull out every trick in the book, every tactic that they can muster to fight President Trump’s ability to get another nominee to the court.”
See Roy Moore....
We need improved numbers in 2018 and it is totally doable.
25 Dems are up, with 11 vulnerable.
8 Republicans are up, with one vulnerable. Jeff Flake will easily be replaced Dr. Ward.
I don’t have a solid feel for Corner but, he is the only other vulnerable seat.
25-8 and the odds on probability is we take more of their seats than they will of ours.
And then boom! We instantly have near a super majority and likely two swings at SCOTUS before 2020.
Those that were too cowardly under Bush to accept higher appointments under W are 8 years older. Now it won’t be as difficult to get approved. Miguel Estrada’s ship has sailed. His own fault.
Bork might have trashed the Second Amendment. Footnote in Slouching Towards Gomorrah:
____________________________________________________________
The Second Amendment states somewhat ambiguously:
“A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
The first part of the Amendment supports proponents of gun control by seeming to make the possession of firearms contingent upon being a member of a state-regulated militia.
The next part is cited by opponents of gun control as a guarantee of the individual’s right to possess such weapons, since he can always be called to militia service. The Supreme Court has consistently ruled that there is no individual right to own a firearm.
The Second Amendment was designed to allow states to defend themselves against a possible tyrannical national government.
Now that the federal government has stealth bombers and nuclear weapons, it is hard to imagine what people would need to keep in the garage to serve that purpose.

The MSM has a way of making his laughable and rude questioning of judgeship appointees seem somehow statesmanlike.
The solution is to appoint judges that (1) grew up outside of our big cities, (2) that own guns, and (3) that use them for recreation and, importantly, self-defense. Tired of the justices that likely have never touched a gun, would never want or allow in their home. Might be wrong, but I cannot see any gun owner ruling against gun ownership.
You are exactly right. But don't forget about the bureaucracy. Just as pernicious.
I think it is remarkable that even with decades of control of the media, pop culture, academia, unions and much of the government that the Left has accomplished very little through legislation.
That remains a hopeful sign.
After AL I wont count on it.
“Hamilton believes that if Robert Bork was on the bench in place of Anthony Kennedy, then the United States of America would be completely different today.”
Indeed, let’s not forget one of the most irrational and overreaching blunder of the Supreme Court, to classify CO2 as a pollutant and to enable EPA to regulate it.
It is the greenlight for the governement to regulate each and everything in our lives.
THIS is what was at stake (for you Alabama voters who stayed home rather than vote for Roy Moore).
Could be. She's tough and sitting on the bench gives her plenty of time for naps.
OTOH, my scenario is that a conservative replaces Kennedy and she retires because there is no longer hope for a liberal majority. I can dream.
“RBG turns 85 in March!!
So, Im expecting TWO appointments in 2018!”
Wait a minute——I’m already 85; what,exactly, are you saying?
