Punk’s Dead Kennedys had a song called Too Drunk to F-—.In the booklet that came with a best of album, they had a page on the song:”TED Kennedy’s ‘Too Drunk to Swim’ (b side) ‘PRAY, Mary Jo’—Available at Hall of Records, Chappaquiddick, Mass.”

Howie Carr interviews the diver in the Chappaquoddick incident; done from a show at the “party house” on the island in ‘94, 25th anniversary of Chappaquiddick
The mini-series on Reelz, “The Kennedys”, was very well done. Didn’t sugar coat much, and showed Teddy in a true light, I think.
"One of his favorite topics of humor was indeed Chappaquiddick itself and he would ask people "have you heard any knew jokes about Chappaquiddick?""
Kennedy wasn’t even in the car when it went into the water. Whenyou understand this everything then makes sense.
Yes
Being of the area, I have followed this for many years, and I regard “Senatorial Privilege” as the last word on the incident.
It is well researched, factual, and evenhanded. If it damns Kennedy, it is because the evidence itself that damned him.
What a scumbag, and all the people who tried to protect him at the expense of the young girl are the same as him.
I am watching this video which seems okay so far...better than nearly any others I have seen to date. Factual so far.
In the discussion with Gargan and Markham, Kennedy said something like “Can’t someone else be driving the car?” that pretty much sealed it for me.
What a scumbag.
I think the video’s turn towards an alternate ending after the point I referenced in my initial post went from factual to opinion.
They have the opinion of Bernie Flynn years after the fact saying he thought it was possible Kennedy wasn’t driving, and at the very end, as buttressing proof, two accident reconstruction experts with one saying no way Kennedy would have driven off the bridge that fast, and the other saying that the lack of tissue damage from broken glass also indicated that she could not have been on the passenger side.
It would also indicate Kennedy had presence of mind to do this calculus in his mind and determine the the best course of action was to say that he was the driver?
I don’t buy any of that except more as food for alternate discussion. More likely that he was blind drunk on Chivas, committed motor vehicle homicide in a fashion drunk people do by driving too fast for the conditions, likely looking out his rear mirror to see if he got followed, and all the rest. As for bodily injuries, there is too much variability in accidents. Sometimes people in horrible accidents walk away without a mark on them while the person next to them is mangled, or vice versa.
This demands a Congressional investigation, I tell ya !
I have read volumes about Chappaquiddick but never happened on the “he” wasn’t the driver stated at the end. That’s very interesting. I have to wonder how if that is all true, he made it back to his hotel that night. Did he get out of the car, have Mary Jo drive it and walked to the cottage like every written report says he did, crawled into the back seat of a car after asking Markham and Gargan to drive him to Edgartown? There wasn’t any swimming from the ferry station over to Edgartown? That scenario makes more sense than any of the rest of the tale ever did....
Sure makes me wonder who on earth came up with all the fantasy that was reported that very day. That’s some pretty fantastic writing...
“”Kennedy wasnt even in the car when it went into the water. Whenyou understand this everything then makes sense.””
Sure does - after years of reading everything else written about it.....
Watching it now. The criminal corruption was nuclear level.
Democrats are all about dead girls and live boys.
