.........the only way this bank could comply with this is through some International Court. My guess is they will tell Mueller to pound sand!

“From what I’ve read, the Russians didn’t want to pick a winner...”

Do you honestly believe that the Russians CAN pick a winner, can command an American election? If true, we should just go ahead and surrender to them. We are finished. Putin is the greatest of the great. Doesn’t even need an army.

Let’s assume what you wrote is correct.

Given the magnitude of the Trump corporate operations, ... he has a team of legal and CPAs to review and ensure compliance. We talking about a person who has been audited by the IRS more than a dozen times. What is Mueller going to find that the IRS did not? Then Mueller has a problem if he alleges a tax violation that the IRS did not? How soon would he be able to do that? Who on his team has that level of international corporate taxation experience to re-open an audit or audits? There is something more sinister going on here.

America should be very concerned about how this investigation got started, the background of the people executing the investigation, its unlimited scope, how it is progressing, and the apparent lack of oversight - a person answerable to no one and politically protected by the 4th estate.

Could Muller and/or ANY of his cronies or the Never-Trumpers stand up to the same scrutiny?

They are beyond investigation and moving into manufacturing...

I don’t care what the the fallout is... it does not matter.. what does matter is mueller does not belong where he is doing what he is doing. It’s an easy thing to let him know he is no longer in that position. Fallout goes with anything... just do what is right and tell the people what and why... those who hate him still will.. his voters will be glad mueller is gone.

The agony is in the decision making.. this is a no brainer. mueller is in over his head and legal authority. Trump has every right to give him the boot.. and Trump has every right to converse with sessions in what has to be done... get over the lie that he has to remain separate... obama told holder every day to destroy.. clinton told reno to destroy..
Get in there and stop this damned nonsense.. someone has to have some sense in this!

soros is not the President.. Trump is.

What is Mueller going to find that the IRS did not?

You assume that Mueller wants to see Trump's tax records to find evidence of a crime.

I assume that Mueller wants to see Trump's tax records so they can be leaked to the press in order for the press to smear Trump and commit many news cycles to his taxes instead of tax reform, immigration reform, regulatory reform, health care reform, etc.

This will set the table for how the MSM covers the 2018 mid-term elections, where the goal is to help Democrats retake the House of Representatives. Use Trump's leaked taxes to agitate a class war against Republicans.

“Deutsche Bank always cooperates with investigating authorities in all countries...”. I’d amend that statement to read “cooperates with LEGITIMATE investigating authorities.” That would rule out any cooperation with Mueller’s witch hunt.

Here is a link to a new story suggesting the same thing I wrote.

Oh My: Has Mueller Crossed Trump’s “Red Line”?

Democrats may have wanted to depose Deutsche Bank but Russia was only an excuse. They wanted to get to Trump’s financial records to dig up any tax evasion or other financial crimes to use against him. Without any clear connection to Russian collusion in 2015-16, why exactly does Mueller want to see those records?

This is an all out PR war and nothing more.

Mueller finds out that the news is going to drop about bias on our team.

So, he puts the Flynn news out there to preempt the news cycle. They even managed to leak it beforehand in a way that made a reporter say Flynn was going to testify about campaign collusion. That was 8 hours of glee and hysteria.

Now that the news cycle is full of bias allegations, he leaks that he subpoenaed bank records. Note there is no leak of wrong doing. The leak is that he did it 6 months ago.

Does anyone believe there would be no leaks if the bank records contained something damning?

I truly believe trump didn’t do anything wrong and knows it. The question is does Mueller think he did something wrong, or does Mueller want a big game trophy regardless.

I don’t understand this. Class war is already one of their go-to arrows in their quiver. And it seems like they’ve already painted themselves into a corner. Either Trump is not as rich as he claims (something they said often during the election) and he instantly becomes more of an “average joe” to working class Americans, or he *is* legitimately insanely rich, which is what everyone assumes already anyway. Smearing him as an “out of touch billionaire” didn’t work in 2016.

Supposed to have strong reason to be able to subpoena crap - bet Mueller is starting to flail as things about him and his team leak.

This was never about Russia or Russian collusion. Russia has a long history of monitoring elections and injecting propaganda. This exercise has been a bottomless-pit-funded oppo-research exercise for 2020 re-election with the dual purpose of dredging up info from bottom-feeders in preparation for a shaky impeachment push.

Bears repeating again, and again, and again.

I'm not saying it has to work, I'm saying it's a context for reporting.

Most people assume that Republicans will keep the Senate because two-thirds of the seats up for reelection are held by Democrats. Therefore, the fight is in the House.

The lesson that Democrats learned from the Hillary campaign is that they ignored the "white working class" in the Rust Belt for too long, and they turned to Trump. Democrats need to find a way to get these disaffected voters back.

Who knows what Democrats might find in Trump's financial records? Remember when Chuck Schumer took a simple word "amigo" from a memo that John Roberts wrote?

Senator Schumer: So my question is not the substance, but do you regret the tone of these memos, do you regret some of the inartful phrases you used in some of those memos, for instance, a reference to “illegal amigos” in one memo?

Democrats might use Trump's taxes to challenge a House member from, say, Michigan, suggesting that he will favor the rich because he didn't vote against a tax break that Trump took, or something.

The biggest difference I've complained about regarding Republican caving is that they never know what might happen once the ball is put in play, yet they never put that ball in play. Democrats always put the ball in play and then deal with what falls out.

It's not about what can be proven, or what is different this time, it's only about the constant action and creating future opportunities for one side to make a mistake or the other side to swing a homer.

Mueller knows he won’t find anything, but he needs to keep the train rolling so he will keep doing stuff like this for months. Next month he will ask for bank records from 2015, then 2011, then 2001 and so on.

Pearls Before Swine :" Can you say “fishing expedition?”

Exactly true !
Phishing from more anonymous sources
Mueller has only good information from 'anonomous sources' like the dossier, which began this investigation

Just like any previous Special Prosecutor, Mueller goes far beyond his parameters of the investigation.

Looking for something that is not there. So we are supposed to believe that Trump’s business loans from years ago will show some link to Russia.

This plot line would have us believe that years ago, maybe 30 years ago when Trump was looking at investment opportunities in Russia that he was seen as running and winning the race for President and is some kind of Sleeper Agent for them? All I can do is laugh.

All of this reminds of a bad comedy skit on Saturday Night Live.

It is truly laughable to think somehow the Russians significantly influenced the election one way or another and that somehow Trump was their secret guy from years ago.
