While that is an interesting approach, I am not sure if science has the tools necessary to give us a complete theory of consciousness.
There are some things that science can not reveal. Even in the natural realm, the Schrodinger paradox shows that it is not possible to obtain all observable information.
As another example, history describes things that science can not observe. We do not know things about Abraham Lincoln by direct observation or experiments in a lab. Sure, there could be some role for science to play, but most knowledge is not gained through direct observation.
It may be like that with consciousness. It may not be possible for scientific processes to explain or reveal where it resides or how it operates.
