I still have it up just listening to the commentators.

No commercials and no Trump hate like our lying media. Amazing.

Too bad a 24 hour news Channel isn’t more nterested in showing actual news than in commenting on old news.

They are down with their meeting which ran over, out to make statements.

Neither look real happy.

They both praised each other and President Trump seemed to make it clear he and Chinese president will be partners in solving problems, including world problems.

So I watched the coverage of the Joint Remarks between Xi and Trump on the CGTN channel on Youtube. CGTN is the Chinese Global Television Network English edition. It was very illuminating to listen to the coverage and vewipoints/reaction to the Joint Remarks.

President Trump just elevated China to the world stage. He just gave them what they want, which is respect and “Face.” It costs nothing and generates much. Trump stated that China and the United States together will work toward solving problems in the world. President Trump also touched upon trade by stating that Xi represents China and that he represents the United States. Unfortunately, past administrations have allowed trade to get out of “kilter”, to use the President’s word...and that agreements will be fair for both sides.

There were two panelists. One an American I believe that teaches at a University there in Beijing. He gave the view of Presidents Trump warm regard towards China and XI and the observation that He gave China what it wants...The other Panelist Also taught some some sort of International Relations and I bleive was Chinese and he had mixed views of the remarks, withhis focus on the issue of trade. There were no arguments or cross talking, just an exchange of opinions/views of the remarks.

There were two “anchors”, one an English speaking Chinese woman and a white male that could be American, or at least had an American accent. Their descriptions of the Joint Remarks were above board and no snark, or negative descriptions.

Granted...this is Chinese Government Television, but the government is presenting their “view” of events as they see things. From what I saw, it was a refreshing observation of primarliy just the facts and obivous observations without rancor.

Of course if our media covers the events at all, it will be how President Trump somewhow screwed it all up and blah, blah blah blah...

Our media is basically a black out on Trumps Asian Tour.....they remember well how Trump was seen after his Arab Trip and they’re not going to give that to him again because the Asians are putting out the Red Carpet for Him.

However the Asian countries are reporting from their perspective ...Europe’s reporting isn’t much better than here in the US MSM.

It’s truly stunning the MSM somehow thinks ‘they’re’ the only news sources we have.

I was just on FB and someone posted a link to coverage. When they started playing our National Anthem, my hand went over my heart, and tears flowed. It was a wonderful ceremony. I do not know what the broadcaster was because I do not remember ever seeing the letters. The Chinese has gone all out for President Trump and First Lady, Melania. They are wonderful representatives. They should get this kind of support here.

Thanks for that note of Richard Nixon. I know he gets a bad rap for some of his liberal policies (and some - like the EPA were needed to SOME degree - and at THAT time) - but his international diplomacy is where he really shined. I’m sure that many at the time saw his visit to China as a “photo-op”, but he had some long-range vision.

Good for President Trump to visit, and get to setting some of the trade agreements right. And I’m guessing they are discussing North Korea as well.

Candidate Trump said if the Chinese did that to him as POTUS, he would tell his Pilot to spool up the engines and head back home.

(or something close to that, LOL)

You do know there was just an election yesterday so of course that is discussed today. Also, the tragedy in Texas is important to discuss. Plus the mess at the DNC is necessary. Trump will get some attention....he’s there for 12 days. I don’t think every day needs to be discussed.

Yes, of course CGTN is reporting from their perspective and it is refershing to listen to other viewpoints that are rational and informative. Those viewpoints may or may not jib with mine, but if provided in a rational and non-snarky manner, it adds to my knowledge and decision making regarding a particular topic.

If negative viewpoints are given in a sneering tone, then of course I automatically disregard any information that is given because it is heavily shaded. All media has a viewpoint, there is no true objectivity except for sports scores and even then...Intelligent, rational discussion has gone by the wayside in favor of team reporting....meaning media backs one team or another. In the old days it was less obvious and in your face..

Now, of course China has its viewpoint. I wouldn’t expect anything less. It is always interesting to see how events are viewed elsewhere in the world.

Tucker went easy on her - didn’t want to be accused of persecuting a “poor Christian woman” the way she took out after Megyn Kelly......

I am watching the “signing” of agreements. Between the US and China.

Do not understand if this is good or bad.

Yes.....we’ve certainly been enlightened on other countries and cultures over the years enough to understand they’re reporting in light of their view of the world...and or our country......Asians are generally polite and saving face is very significant to how they approach things........I learned how high that would go during the Japan Earthquake/Tusami....they are a very proud people...sometimes to their own hurt.. they will gladly fall on their sword rather than loose face........I see Russia similar.....though in a different vein of course.

RT does some amazing reporting if one keeps in ind they too will report their own bias...but you view it knowing this....at least they’re reporting far ore International news then we ever do. There’s a good reason why the International people see the USA people as uniformed ....for the most part they are when it comes to International Affairs and such.

FR use to be quite informative on World events but has moved away from that as the threads maintain pretty much what’s going on here....I miss it.
