I'll take
ONE Hattie in return for the majority of garbage that inhabits Hollywood today.

Hattie McDaniel winning the Oscar for best supporting actress in 1940:

Always liked her..
Classy lady.
And Mammy seemed to me to be the smartest and most decent person in the whole story.

Sorry, Hattie, but your movie is now racist and can no longer be watched.

There was a controversy at Harvard in the early ‘90s about a scheduled showing of the film “It’s A Wonderful Life” as part of a course, because the only “person of color” depicted in a 1930s small New England town was a black maid. I think the prof cancelled the film showing. I will see if I can find a link.

Beautiful lady and beautiful part in the movie. She has always been my favorite black actor.

If you don’t care what folks think about this family, I does!!

Get out of the way trash!!!
To: Enchante
Which was stupid to complain about because most small towns in 1930s New England would not have had a black maid.
At least the movie gave a black actor a job.
