I maintain most of the war fighting testosterone in germany was killed before 1945 or so.

Yes, especially when Hitler threw children into the fray in the closing hours of the War. There went the gene pool.

Getting AfD into the Bundestag will be a big step in creating a space for the massively consensus-driven people to allow themselves to think about alternatives. Unless you have spent a lot of time among Germans, it is difficult for an American to understand how dominated by group think they are. I had a German friend visiting a couple months ago. He told me that the Muslim invasion must not be stopped because: a) we had a wall before and it was bad; b) based its terrible history, Germany has an obligation to help; and c) “we can handle it”. Yes, I know, those are the dumbest three “arguments” ever. But trying to move a German off of their national consensus is an absolute waste of time.

I read an article last year about this small town in Germany. Federal officials came in , and called a town meeting. The townspeople were told that their under-utilized buildings were all going to be taken over, and used to house Muslim immigrants.

The townspeople just sat there and listened. No one objected at all.

I have read several reports of the converse

Buildings allocated to "refugees" torched and burnt to the ground.

Here’s the deal: the real race in the German election is for THIRD place. Merkel is in for a spot trouble if the Free Democrats don’t take away enough votes from the AfD to come in third. Merkel really needs the FDP to form a Bundestag coalition more to her liking. The magic number (for a single party or coalition) is 300 seats.

The last poll before the election shows CDU/CSU in first, SDP in second, and AfD in third. Should this play out... the SDP has a decision to make. Do they team up to continue the “Grand Coalition” and allow the AfD to become the official opposition? Being the official opposition gets more attention. More press. More buzz.

Also remember German voters get TWO votes — one for a local candidate, one for a party. What if... people like their local CDU/CSU candidate but vote AfD with their party vote? We’ve seen here how the polling messed up rather badly with Mr. Trump’s election. And in Germany earlier this year, the state elections in North-Rhine Westphalia went and voted in the CDU to the absolute shock and surprise of every German politics observer.

We’ll have a much better idea how things stand by 6:00p eastern time on Sunday, September 24. Germany is six hours ahead of eastern time, I figure by then much of the Bundestag seats will be called for a winner.

Okay, guess I just have to do this. My opinions on the German campaign spots, along with links. If you don’t understand German, watch the pictures; you’ll get the party’s drift.

Here’s the CDU/CSU campaign spot. Any resemblance to the Reagan 1984 campaign theme purely coincidental.
https://youtu.be/IPT-7P0EtW0

The SDP spot is a smudgy copy of the Union spot:
https://youtu.be/fXN-qwQipJs

The Greens take lots of cues from the Democrats in the US. Talk normally, bury all the eco-friendly stuff. But watch and make up your own mind: https://youtu.be/T5h1uALnOiA

The Left (former communists). ‘Nuff said: https://youtu.be/6hl8TDU5R2c

Free Democrats easily have the edgiest political spot I’ve seen anywhere, for any election. Extremely well done in my opinion. Watch this even if you don’t care about German politics: https://youtu.be/tXyVdCKjldI

And here’s the Alternative fuer Deutschland spot, “We Rock Germany”: https://youtu.be/RRoHZ-QKwhk

(BTW, one of their main candidates, Alice Weidel, is a lesbian living with her “wife” and kids.)

The two that interested me the most:

The Greens take lots of cues from the Democrats in the US. Talk normally, bury all the eco-friendly stuff.........I thought I was watching a Disneyland promo.....lol.

Listening to the "Alternative fuer Deutschland" spot.......hard hitting, no nonsense description of the present day problems.....they spoke a little to fast for me to get everything said but I get the jist. Taking your comment (living with her “wife”) into account, voting for AfD vs. the others, seems to be like deciding to shoot yourself with a Glock rather than a Ruger!

No good Alternative fuer Deutschland

I found watching with closed captioning on helped me to understand the spots better.

Of course, we’re not the target audience, haha.
