What a story and what a real man.
Thank God for men like him and that they still exist in this country.
I am also blown away by what medical science can do these days.

Remarkable story of bravery. Thanks for sharing it here.
As an aside, I wish all online articles were formatted like this one.

This is a throwback to the police of old, to protect and serve. Modern police SOP would be to shoot the knife-wielding assailant.

True Grit is right. What an outstanding story of a brave selfless man.

“Modern police SOP would be to shoot the knife-wielding assailant.”
Really,that’s standard procedure?
I assume that you’re in law enforcement if you claim that.

Amazing story. Nearly the same eye injury happened to my Dad in 74. A bottle rocket hit him. The pain is incredible from the elevated intraoccular pressure in his case. He also had a torn cornea and the keyhole that went unrepaired. He was determined to keep the eye and did.
Astounding surgery.

The newspaper neglected to say the San Bernadino incident was Islamic Terrorism—instead just reporting the attackers were “...a health department inspector and his wife...”. And we never learned the citizenship status of the mook that stabbed the heroic officer...wonder why.

Breathtaking. In every way. Awesome and amazing.
Clint Eastwood needs to meet this man and his wife.
