Ha, and back when, I carried a paper in Phoenix. We signed up a few extra folks “off the books”. We didn’t get papers for them in our bundles, but stopped by a news box, put a quarter in and pulled out the extra ten or so for our “extra” customers. Of course, you could never miss those folks ‘cause you didn’t want them to call in and complain.

Websites can fake numbers of visitors. Google tries to stop it when they have to pay for fake clicks but they charge advertisers lots of money knowing about these fake visitors. They do not reimburse the advertisers unless they are caught.
