Talked to my Sister today. 30 year Flight Attendant of the Air Line in question. This clown wasn’t a full fare Customer. He was flying standby with a Friend’s and Family pass. Yep, if a First Class seat is availability come lift off Friends and Family can be upgraded from Coach. Flew from Boston to LA a number of years back on a Family pass, was upgraded to First Class. SWEET!

Actually, Idiot did know how, and had turned the handle enough that if they were at lower altitude, he could have opened it. Another passenger had to put the lever back in the safe position after the altercation.
No, it wouldn’t have opened at altitude, but could have opened during approach.
