EMP sends out a wave of electromagnetic energy (four waves, actually) and this wave induces electric current in wires.
Pass a wire through a magnetic field and current is induced. This is how a generator works. But with EMP, the wire is fixed and the magnetic wave is moving. Imagine how much current would be induced in a 100-mile long power line. Now, how much current would be induced in the half-inch wire between the battery and the processor in your quartz watch? Nobody can say for certain.

o Metal structures are NOT protected, like barns. Any crack, open door or window, opening, defeats protection.
o Lightening is coventional. EMP is nuclear. The difference is a million times.
o IIRC there are 3 types of pulses of various duration and power, depending on the nuclear parameters.
o Apparently Uncle Sam will not publish hard useful data.
o You cannot ‘harden’ your toys, they would leak. You CAN store a later model motorbike, plus toys, store them in a diy faraday cage, like chicken wire, in your garage. Max hole size TBD. NO openings. Sealed means electrical soldered or welded. Door sold electrical contact.
o Electrical survives eg wires, alternators. High resistance, & capacity.
o Electronic dies, low resistances, and small cross sectional areas.
EMP = Y2K
Why not just build a Faraday cage into your garage? Or your whole house for that matter, if you’re that concerned about it?
Quite sure that truck has electronic ignition components that would be affected by EMP.
Problem is that the government or someone else will confiscate any running vehicles. You will attract evil people - lots of them.
