That’s an impressive job, and well documented as usual.
One might think you were an engineer.
God bless.
Yep...thos photographers who supplied so much combat footage were in harms way the whole way like the other soldiers.
God rest his soul.
Probably have 200 =- 300 hours in her.
Lot of fun.
My favorite two builds were the USS ROnald Reagan, CVN-76

and the USS Iwo Jima, LHD-8

I have every major carrier built by the US, Russia, China, the UK, Jaoan, and france.
Except the new Ford and new Queen Elizabeth. As soon as a kit becomes available for them...if I am still drawing breath, I will get them and build them.
Also have all of the escorts for each from each of those nations.
Well that sure keeps you out of trouble.Hats off to you Sir.
There are five full sheets of photo etch parts that come with this kit.
Holy photo etch, Batman!
bttt
Wow nice thread. Really Great work!
Thanks for sharing all that.
(I visited the USS Intrepid a couple of times, long ago.)

For history buffs, the original contracts for the Enterprise and the Lexington are in the National Archives, DC (downtown), not at NARA II, College Park, Md.
I think I have copies somewhere in the basement (a lost cause) but I think the originals are in RG 125 - Contracts, Bonds, etc., not a Record Group people ordinarily look at.
I also think that a 1910 Wright Brothers contract for planes (possibly for use on an aircraft carrier) is also in those drawers (not boxes).
Been many years since I saw them but they are impressive documents.
AWESOME!
He was Photographer's Mate 3rd Class Robert F. Read. From the Wikipedia (boldface added):
Had occasion to remember him just this last week when Spc. Hilda I. Clayton was killed while snapping her last photo in Afghanistan.

This view of the incident was taken by one of the Afghan soldiers:
Jeff, Thanks the awesome history lesson. You’ve done a heap of work on your websites, books, histories, and the models. Thanks so much.
Where do you put them? would love to see a pic of your display room.
Jeff, another amazing model and another amazing history compiled.
I learned a lot about the USS Enterprise. I had no idea how many major battles of the Pacific she was in.
My wife’s uncle was on the USS Mobile for over three years in WW2, and she had 13 battle stars.
Twenty battle stars for the Enterprise was incredible.
Bookmark for after work.
May 23th release “ Never call me a hero” Jack “Dusty” Kleiss”
Great work, Jeff!
That looks like a Benson-class DD leading the group. What kit is it, and can/have you posted some build pictures and closeups?
;-)
Thank you
