Mulvaney: There are several hundred millions of dollars in the budget, for up-building border wall
Live press briefing | 5/2/2017

Posted on 05/02/2017 11:24:48 AM PDT by cba123

Mick Mulvaney, the budget director, is currently having a press conference.

I was watching it, and learned for the first time, that there is several hundreds of millions of dollars in the budget, for ramping up fencing on the border (now) upgrading to a 20-foot structurally sound, actual border.

This is the first I had heard of that.

It seems the President is looking at playing much harder ball in September.

It seems the 2017 budget was closed, as of the budget agreement.

I am much, much happier than I was a couple of days ago.

Good discussion Mr. Mulvaney, and happy 19th anniversary to you.

No this is not the new border wall.

That is for September. This is upgrading a lot of fencing which is currently on the border.

It will be replaced with a 20-foot border with actual strength. This is NOT the new wall. But it is going to be done right now.

I feel much, much, much better that this is a good first step.

Again, this is not the new wall. That will be even bigger. But it is a big upgrade, to what is there now.

The is 20" see-through wall is shoring up what is currently is a chain-link fence. Watch the news conference - he was very detailed & adamant about what is going on with the border.

Sean Spicer could learn or take some pointers on how to handle the White House press . . . I enjoy hearing Mick Mulvaney take them on. Watched his previous appearance at the Daily Briefing and this one today . . . until Stupid Fox cut to a stupid story about Hillary Clinton at some Women’s Conference on why she thinks she lost. Who Cares. What Difference Does It Make? Today is May 2. It is over. Nobody cares, Hillary. Just Shut Up and Go Away. Far Away.

Gotta remember this is the US government we’re talking about. Anyone who has ever worked in or around the the US gov knows what a pain it can be to get anything done in anything resembling a timely manner. Pile on a bunch of clueless pols and it’s like herding sea horses in Lake Michigan.

It can get really frustrating to someone used to working in the private sector that simply says “ok, you’re fired” then picks up the phone and has someone there that afternoon finishing up the project the first one was dragging their heels on.

You can’t just go down to the border & start building a wall in the first week. They just finished receiving bids for the wall. It will take a little while to go through the bids and build the prototypes. This wall is going to happen - and the 20’ fence is already happening.

One America News Network carried the entire press conference.
The wall is already being built...374 million dollars worth.

This was Obama's incomplete budget& the GOP got another bite out of the apple

They will have their own budget in September

I just heard the budget needs 60 Senate Votes so no wonder it is so hard to pass with everything TRUMP wants

I thought it was just a simple majority & it was the RINO's screwing with TRUMP LOL

Yeah I am (much) more optimistic about what is happening, than I was an hour ago.

An hour ago, I thought the wall was basically dropped.

It does not appear that is the case. Mr. Mulvaney is a good speaker.

Very important information, in my view. It was for me, anyway, and the press there, seemed equally gob-smacked with the information.

Good discussion.

Mulvaney was very clear in his remarks that the Democrats are LYING about what is in the agreement because they do not want their base to know how badly they got rolled. They are trying to make it look like Trump got rolled and the media is going along with it.

They were clutching their pearls & heading over to the fainting couch as Mulvaney moved on to the next smack down.

You can’t just go down to the border & start building a wall in the first week.

But you can use our existing stock of anti-personnel mines to slow down the invasion in the meantime.

Mulvaney did a great job and the Never Trumpers who are gleefully ripping the President apart need to stop their continuous bad mouthing of the President.

Fake news = the demonrats spin that they “won” and many are buying their spin.

Thanks for posting this.

“...they do not want their base to know how badly they got rolled...”

Well put and exactly what is going on here.

The “fact” that dems “won” is the fake news here and Mulvaney nailed it.

for crying out loud- the left ARE going to be screaming “But it’s soooooo expensive to build- do you think that is a good way to spend America’s Money”?

The CORRECT answer to those ignorant questions is YES- it’s an excellent investment because illegals cost this country between $400 BILLION DOLLARS and $600 BILLION DOLLARS every single year- so an initial cost of $20 billion dollars - a one time fee- will save us hundreds of billions of dollars”

That answer will make the left look like partisan hacks complaining about irrelevant irrational fears of cost-

Why won’t republicans put the left in their places and stop this ignorant criticism of the wall by citing these figures?

I spent about 15 minutes on day and discovered what illegals are costing this country every single year- Republicans, who’s job it is to KNOW this crap can’t make the case that we’ll be saving hundreds of billions of dollars every single year? Do they not even know about what illegals cost this country? It’s their job to know!

This should be an easy case to dispel the lie that the wall is ‘too expensive’

You’re welcome.

To tell the truth, I have been on the other side for several days.

I thought that Trump had dropped this issue. Now I don’t believe that is the case. This section is being upgraded right now, and the new wall starts in September.

I am back. Don’t get me wrong, I have been for Trump since before most people on this website. But I was wavering this week, for the very first time. Big time.

Now I am not. I am very glad to have caught this speech.

Good job Mr. Mulvaney.
