By the grace of God I too had a Leave it to Beaver or Father Knows Best childhood. And despite the moral decline, my children have had much the same. Married Christian parents make all the difference.
Bullish is correct up to the point where/what happened in our public schools. Tad Cummins is not the only teacher to have pulled this nonsense and everyday we read about teachers both male and female getting it on with students.
Our tax dollars should not be funding this and we should be pushing for more school vouchers.

I have known a lot of family law attorneys, counselors, social workers, etc that have destroyed their own families because they had to be so engrossed with their work.
You see an abused, neglected or molested kid and when you go home, it’s insanely difficult to be part of your own family as all you can think about is that kid you worked worked with that is going through a living hell.
It is but you must figure she was between a rock and a hard place.
Her mom is slamming her head on washing machines. He is using her sexually. I’m sure the usually sexually part did not hurt as badly considering it was her own mom doing the first abuse.
Option 1 Get beaten at home and locked in a basement.
Option 2 Get away from that and to a place that at least feels safe.
However, it does seem that at least her mom wanted her out of the house and likely approved of the relationship with Cummings.

I have a feeling the girl’s father was lacking in his duties as a dad which created a void that was filled by the teacher.

If Mom was so abusive, you’d think Dad could have kept it zipped before having all ten children. Surely the behavior showed up around number two or three. One, even. Most people don’t change unless they are forced to.

Yes, that is the story that was put out there by her family, but we have no real evidence that their version is 100% correct.
Since then, there have been indications that point to the possibility that she left willingly (but not in a consensual manner) and that previous to her being kidnapped (we all understand that kidnapping is a crime), the family was aware of and or condoned the relationship.
Now, simply because the parents may have known of or condoned the relationship does not mean that she was not kidnapped. It’s now federal and he is in federal custody.
However, Tennessee law looks at it a little differently, but again the Feds get first shot at him.

I’m simply saying that the family said to the media at the start of the case may not be entirely accurate.
That lack of accuracy may have been because they were intentionally not telling the truth.
Or, it could b that the local police, a prosecutor, their own attorney or the FBI encouraged them to put out an inaccurate story TO THE MEDIA in order to rattle Cummings.
It would not be the first time during a criminal investigation or active kidnapping, that law enforcement has planted a false narrative of the events in order to play a head game with the perp. Actually in almost all such cases, law enforcement plants details of a crime that are not accurate.
So your going back she was better off being with a Pedophile.
Most of the people in the World live where the age of consent is lower than her age. She chose to be with the old chap, so what?

Years ago I remember reading about an experiment done on some Harlem teenagers.
They assembled them in a room and showed them episodes of “Leave it to Beaver”, “Father knows Best”, and “Ozzie and Harriet”.
Their prior predictions indicated they expected the teenagers to guffaw, holler, and hoot in mocking derision at the shows.
To their utter shock, the teenagers were absolutely mesmerized and loved the shows. The teenage girls said they would love to live the life they saw in these shows because of how respectful the husband was to the wife, etc.
And it appears that her other option was to be in an unsafe environment where she was threatened or felt threatened.
