"In addition, a Russian-made surface-to-air missile site and its associated radar was destroyed,..."

“59 missiles to take out 9 old Migs that can be easily replaced by Russia is not the greatest use of resources.”

You are a special kind of stupid.

A quick, simple Google Earth search will show you at least 21 hardened hangars. Each hangar is destroyed. They probably targeted each hangar with 2 missiles. That is 42 Missiles.

Each hangar likely contained support equipment, spare parts, ground support equipment, PERSONNEL.

They are only counting planes they KNOW they destroyed.

You think Putin has planes sitting around in a hangar that are combat ready that is going to GIVE to Assad, along with the equipment and ground personnel they just lost?

I’m not even counting the other buildings that had who know what.

59 Tomahawks on an airfield is a MAJOR hurt.

That being said...I am trying to avoid dissing the President because he did something I am not sure of. I do not have the Intel he has and I do not believe he made the decision based on those photos. Something else is going on. Heck, if it keeps Muslims out of the U.S. then I am all for it.

Always liked Cruz.

For some reason the dislike for him seems very widespread. Even his daughter appeared to recoil away. And those shifty darting eyes.

I found a reference to one variant of the Tomahawk that carried the anti-runway I cannot find a current reference, nor the actual model that was used on Syria.

It’s not hard to rebuild a runway or build a new one. Some bulldozers, graders, concrete trucks, etc. is all it takes. Maybe take a week, tops. Now would it be great? No. But it would be functional.

Radar, airplanes, support infrastructure, etc. take a lot more to rebuild...

They were indeed; Boeing, Raytheon, and Lockheed Martin stocks all went up today. Missile goals completely achieved!

Multi-million dollar missile vs. my $139.99 dollar GPS I hope so.

Still, even if they had the same in accuracy would still be good enough to destroy a HAS with fighter aircraft inside.

If Reuters reported they celebrating the air strikes by having celebrations and camel games on the runways, would you believe them?

And you know this how? Moron. And you should be careful calling people cowards here. Many have been through action you can’t imagine.

Yet there are now reports coming (from anti-Assad observers and reportedly confirmed by a US official) that Syrian planes have still been using the runways there today. What good are 59 missiles hitting an airfield if they don’t even stop jets from using it?

Are you certain? Chemical weapons are usually stored as two “safe” ingredients that are mixed right before use.

Was gas released? No one has claimed that. As for the second point. The use of a binary concept is pretty much limited to nations that stockpile and store such weapons and give at least a small crap about people. Which player Syria or ISIS fits that description?

So freakin’ what?! Do you know how quickly repair crews can bring a cratered runway back to operational status for fighter planes to take off!? I guess you don’t. If the strike was planned, in part, to render those runways unusable for the near future they would have been!

Couldn't we have lobbed a couple cluster bombs to pock mark that runway real good?

..and I want to know how Hillary knew about this mission BEFORE it happened, re: her comment earlier in the day yesterday about "bombing the airstrip"

Yep. Taking out a big long runway are easy. It’s no biggy. Unfortunately, most runway repairs can also be easily repaired and can be done rather quickly.

I have a hunch there were also other targets at this venue which have yet to be disclosed.
