Very interesting! Thank you. Eastern Europe holds a special fascination for me, probably because that is the origin of my own bloodlines.
I definitely will do more research!
Sorry I didn't go deeper, but time constraints, REAL LIFE interruptions, during my trying to type, etc. sort of made my post far less informative than I had panned it to be. :-(
The thing about Hungary and Hungarians, that people REALLY should know, is that historically, they were not only a The bulwark of protection, keeping the the Western Europe free from the Muslim invasions, but also, that they have always been a FREEDOM loving peoples. The poems of Petofi and Kossuth are as stirring, today, as they were in the mid 1800s!
Also, at one time, this much overlooked nation, was EXTREMELY influential and important, not to mention advanced, in the scheme of things in Europe. It also ruled over, as part of the nation, many areas/present day nations, that are much better known about, now, such as Poland, the Czech Republic,Slovakia, and Romania; to name but a few.
If you want to carry on the conversation/have any questions/ want a book list, please feel free to FRmail me...any time. :-)
