Gainesville Fl needs a lot of these teams operating all the time. In GVL anyone who sees a bicycle unchained or with removable parts unchained takes it or the handlebars or a wheel, etc. This seems to apply to police officers and UF professors as well as everyone else. If you steal a bike chances are that within a couple of days or even a couple of hours it will be restolen by someone else. In GVL you can see a bike with 40 foot cables twined all through the frame locked up by a $50 padlock, chained to a bike rack, with the seat missing.
In Miami some years ago a store that was repeatedly broken into through the skylight was boobytrapped by the owner and a perp coming through the skylight was severely injured, perhaps killed, and the owner was held liable.
