He’s an undocumented distributor.
That’s illegal?
During the distillation process methanol is concentrated at the start of the run because it has a lower boiling point than ethanol and water. The boiling point of methanol is approximately 148 degrees farenheit, which is quite a bit lower than ethanol (the good stuff). This means that methanol (148F boiling temp) will start to boil before the ethanol (174F boiling temp). This is why moonshiners should always throw out the first bit of shine they produce from each run.
Sometimes it’s due to cutting corners and using an old car radiator instead of copper coils, too.
During probation much of the denatured alcohol was denatured with benzene...deadly.
A fellow I knew perfected a way to get rid of the benzene. He milled natural rubber, put it into the denatured alcohol, and all of the benzene was absorbed into the natural rubber. He confirmed this with a benzene ring test on the alcohol that was left. No benzene.
I have, an old doctor used to make it.
Smoothest stuff ever! Went down like kool aid.
Didn’t hit until you tried to stand up. Whooooeeee
lightening for sure.
Oh, now, moonshine is corn whiskey. Believe it or not, they sell legal moonshine here in Virginia. My favorite is Tim Smith's Climax:
