The guy is such a danger to society, that's why he was released without being charged (he'll be charged later if that's what a grand jury decides). He doesn't sound like a guy on a rampage and the whole "the victim was a sweet boy on his way home to watch Little House on the Prairie after helping little old ladies" doesn't seem to be holding up. If Gasser was determined to be crazy or any kind of danger to the public, they'd be moving heaven and earth to keep him in jail (no bail or super-high cash-only bail).

And check this out: Ronald Gasser did not stand over Joe McKnight when he shot him, JPSO, coroner say

The story that the ballplayer's friends were telling the cops is already falling apart.

I had somebody following me all over town for about 10 minutes, which feels like an eternity when somebody is after you. And this dude had a kid in the car. Then I decided to drive on over to the police station (I should’ve thought about this much sooner, I was lucky that traffic was very light and I was never blocked in by traffic. I did blow a couple of stop signs and one red light after making sure there was no cross traffic or I could beat it. At that point, I wanted a cop to see us and pull us over.) I pulled into the cop shop thinking that anything that happens there will be captured on camera. And I saw a cop just coming out, so I pulled right up to the building where he was. The guy kept on going and I never saw him again. He had out-of-state plates, which I also consider a good thing. It’s been years and I’ve never seen him again.
