Exactly what I have been saying - his opting to not specifically go after her does not preclude his FBI/DOJ form enforcing the law of the land. It would be unseemly for him to make it a personal-looking vendetta at this juncture.
Many say he promised to do it and should, but there’s a difference in campaign talk (like locker room talk) and what he actually put in his 100 day contract. The contract/plan of action is the meat of why he was elected.
However, the Trump Administration will have the highest ethical standards.
The Justice Department can be expected to operate without political interference. I think it will.
Trump is magnanimous in victory, which is certainly to his credit. I don't think he will mistake magnanimity for justice, honesty, and truth.
(Notice that Trump descended into the sewer to fight Hillary because that's where she was and where he had to fight her, but, once the fight was over, he ascended back into the light and to the highest position he could take, which is where he and his family live.)
If I'm wrong about this, it will come as a huge surprise. We'll see. But I wasn't wrong about him when he first announced, and I have not been disappointed yet.
I think Trump sought the Presidency because of what you have just said. He recognized the problem, believed that he could correct it, and has, so far, succeeded. I'm convinced that his motives are benevolent and his standards the highest.
I hope that the Justice Department, in the Trump Administration, will be unfettered, uncorrupted, and free of political influence. If so, the question of the prosecution of the Clintons will be decided on the merits of the case, which, of course, is as it should be.
Trump might have to be reminded that NO ONE is "too big to prosecute" and that to refuse to prosecute someone because of high position is as unjust as to prosecute someone because of high position and either case would violate the equal protection clause of the Constitution.
Trump has vowed to "clean up Washington", i.e. to end the corruption. Nothing is more corrupt than the Obama Administration and the Clinton Enterprise. Trump must NOT refuse to investigate, prosecute, and do whatever is necessary to clean up the corruption, regardless of the consequences, and certainly not to avoid a Constitutional Crisis. As you say, we have been in a Constitutional Crisis for 8 years--maybe longer (e.g. George W. Bush refused to enforce US immigration law despite his responsibility and Oath of Office to do so).
HOWEVER--to interfere with prosecution for any of these reasons is to politicize it, and that is corruption. Trump might have to be reminded of this.
Indeed. Reagan was nowhere near as much of a street fighter. He was undercut by treachery much of his second term.
If I’m reading the tea leaves correctly, and I very much might not be, what I see developing with regards to PIAPS is something beautiful.
Ah, we have an accord! ;-D
.
After much cogitation, I have concluded that Trump’s revelation regarding Clinton prosecution is the result of blackmail.
Somebody thinks they have something on him and are applying pressure.
.
What lame cherry had to say is I think more close. There are other pieces in play here. I counsel patience.
Why only hillary..The whole Clinton klan is guilty of various crimes?
