Colin Nathaniel Scott, 23, was with his younger sister I bet he had the car keys in his pocket, too.

There is a great book titled “Death in Yellowstone” about all of ways stupid people have died at the park. There is also a companion volume titled “Death in the Grand Canyon.” Both are great books, and sadly out of print.

Falling into hot springs in Yellowstone has happened quite often, read Death in Yellowstone-Accidents and Foolhardiness in the First National Park by Lee H. Whittlesey. Good read!

We have a hot spring on the property (we live not too far from Yellowstone) and it heats our house, driveway, garage, hot tub, and pool.
Our water is usually around 150F-165F and you would not want to be in contact with it for a long time.
The way our house was built the water can be routed into the slab foundation of the house during the winter to keep it warm and then it goes out to the garage, then the driveway, and then into the hot tub, pool, and then it flows to the creek.
It’s around 100 in the hot tub and the pool is about 80 all the time.
It’s really nice EXCEPT for the smell but you do get used to it over time and anymore I kind of like it!

You beat me by 10 seconds. Both books, including Off the Wall- Death in Yosemite are available from Amazon.

A friend of mine told me of her first trip as a child to Yellowstone. It will always be remembered as another kid ran up and jumped into the pool.
The rangers had to fish him out in pieces.

Yes, signs are everywhere, in several languages including Chinese. We were there in the summer of 2015 and watched as a teenaged girl walked off the boardwalk right up to a geyser pool. Her parents were watching on and smiling.
I said something about Darwin Awards out loud, which went right over their heads.

May he RIP.
The point about risk-taking is that bad things can actually happen. Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t fully grasp that part, think it’s all about mastering fear, and nothing more.
