Eli Zabar! The nastiest guy in NYC. When I used to shop in the morning at one of his bakeries on Madison Avenue on the way to work, he was always horrible to me. And all I was doing was buying a couple of shortbread cookies.

They’re all libs - except, I hear, Alton Brown. Mario Batali looks like a hog on ice so I avoid him if he’s on tv. Bobby Flay is a good cook and his competition shows are good. Not bad looking, either. Yeah, Giada has this giant head and I’ve heard she’s unpleasant behind the scenes. I think Garten has a good reputation. The only really good chef and teacher is Anne Burrell but I’m sure most people can only take her in limited doses. She actually is a teacher in culinary school - or was.

I like her cooking and her show because we make fun of her....her "good" vanilla....her "parties" when 2 people show up, and then her gay friends, all males, no lesbians that I know of....and her "Jeffrey"...

such a twit....

but I like her cooking...

How disappointing that they don’t have it on their website. Thank you very much.

I'm not going to stop watching the cooking shows that I like...Bobby is entertaining, Ina is a great target to make fun of, Lidia on PBS is great....

if you can ever catch a "Chef's Life" its fantastic....

Mario B is a creep and an outspoken elitist liberal...avoid him at all costs...

Giada is a lightweight, as is that girlfriend of Cuomo whatshername....

Jeffrey does spend a lot of time away from home. Don’t know if he’s still a dean at Yale but he had a pied a terre in CT. He sure doesn’t have to worry about Ina. Pick a gay guy and that’s where she’s spending her evenings.

Once she became a celebrity Chef and author, she sold B/C.

I watch all the shows pretty much. Chopped is my favorite as long as it uses all those wonderful chefs who toil without fame. Some of them are amazing. The kid version is plain annoying at this point. Flay’s new competition show is very good although he consistently wins which loses something in excitement. My all-time favorite was Nigella but they no longer run her on the Cooking Channel. When you can get Z-grade celebs making burgers, why bring in a foreign cook who looks like a movie star from the 1950s?

My favorites:

Jacques Pepin (on PBS)

Great Chefs series (also PBS)

Two Fat Ladies (Food Network)

Sara Moulton (Food Network)

Those are all great - Jacques Pepin’s knives skills alone make him worth watching. I own Julia Child’s black and white series on dvd as well as the Two Fat Ladies. I do recommend Clarissa’s memoirs which are hilarious. I loved Sara’s phone in show at night - especially when she got prank callers!

One we like is Cooks Country Test Kitchen on PBS>

Good cooks, recipes, instructions.
Learned how to foolproof soft boil eggs, cook edible brown rice on that show. (I know, wow)
Great cookbook you can order.

My wife loves Ina.

I actually got that from a standup thing from Jay Mohr the comedian. He was taking about that show and kept saying “Don’t tell Jeffrey”. My wife and I were both cracking up. I get forced to watch that network way too much. I just need a comedian to mock “The Pioneer Woman”. That show drives me nuts.
