Trump was the best thing that ever happened to Kelly. Her attacks on Trump made her acceptable in the eyes on the Coastal Elites. I think she planned the whole go after Trump from the moment Trump announced. She has been ennobled and she will be rewarded for her work.

The exorbitant salary mentioned, $20 million, just happens to more than O’Reilly’s huge contract, and would make BOR second banana at FNC.
Current CNN salaries are far less, and MK has been rumored to be heading there for months. So it’s likely just her final negotiating gamble with FNC. She doesn’t have anything to lose by making an outrageous demand of FNC.
