He better stay focused on who it is that he is running against. He knows exactly who, and what, he is running against.

The MSM, the DNC, are supporting illary; they will twist reality to suit their agenda.

If you read the original NY Times article, Trump's former accountant explains it.
The software he was using wouldn't print such a large number. So, he had to use a typewriter to insert the additional digits and hyphen.

And he should sue the heck out of them just for the principle. There's a good chance the NY Times actually broke the law.
But, the timing of this indicates that Trump may have punked the Times:
- A NY Times executive editor publicly stated on 9/10 (in a conference at Harvard) that he would risk jail to publish Trump's tax returns.
- The NY Times reporter claims to have received the returns on 9/23.
- Trump's former accountant authenticated the returns, which is a breach of client confidentiality. I really doubt he would have done it without Trump's permission, but the Times apparently didn't think to ask if he had it.
- Trump immediately threatened legal action against the NY Times.
Given Trump's history of punking the media (search for "trump john miller"), I think this is something Trump would do.
