Holy Crap! You freepers in the western time zones should watch this episode.

The Capitol building goes up in flames during the State of the Union address, pretty much wiping out every member of the House and Senate, the President and Vice President, Supreme Court, etc.

The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, played by Keifer Sutherland, is sworn in as president.

In the 60s, Irving Wallace wrote a great book — THE MAN. As I recall, a building collapsed in Frankfort, Germany and the prez and VP were killed. Speaker of the House becomes prez and he happens to be black. He was put in as Speaker to pacify black groups. And then there is an effort to impeach him. A great novel.
